The Pastorale by MA Charpentier, composed in 1684

Halfway between opera and oratorio, Charpentier unites in this work the freshness of pastorals with the story of the Nativity.
The evident dramatic content of the work and the total interpenetration of Charpentier's music with the text made it possible to propose a stage version of this work.
